The launch of Microsoft Vista may have some wondering when their organizations will upgrade. I know a few people whose rule of thumb for any new Microsoft operating system is “not until Service Pack 2 is released.” For the immediate future, it’s important to be able to test new services in a Vista setting (in a controlled test lab) and evaluate hardware and software purchases in light of Vista requirements. Other that that, the “Service Pack 2″ guideline is an example of that excellent rule, “the second mouse gets the cheese.”
